Zaheer is a multi-award-winning Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) thought leader. Currently, he is Head of Strategic Delivery for Diversity and Inclusion at Ernest & Young (EY). He leads the Race strategy for the firm and chairs the firmwide Race Working Group. He is the director of EY’s flagship leadership development and culture change programme aimed at high potential Black and Minority Ethnic Senior Managers. He also leads EY’s efforts on Innovation and Thought Leadership. In his role at EY, he advises national and international organisations on various D&I related matters.

Prior to EY, Zaheer held senior management positions with Warner Brothers and Whitbread PLC. Zaheer spent over 13 years in the British Transport Police (BTP) serving in various departments including Uniformed Policing, Force Intelligence Bureau, Major Incident Suite where he worked on murder investigations and CID. He also held Family Liaison officer and Evidence Review Officer positions.

Whilst at the BTP, he worked closely with the Home Office and police stakeholders on various national policies and strategies. He was member of the five national police boards including Ministerial Progression Group, National Stop & Search board and National Prevent Board (counter Terrorism). He also worked closely with the Ministry of Justice as Member of the Race Advisory Board. He is a former Race advisor to the Arsenal football club.

He is a recipient of numerous national and international awards. He was appointed Member of the Most Excellent Order of British Empire (MBE) by Her Majesty the Queen in 2010 in recognition for his services to the police service. He is the winner of the European Diversity “Hero of the Year” Award and recipient of the community honours award.

He is a serving Justice of the Peace (Magistrate) sitting in adult criminal court, board member of European Muslim Initiative for Social Cohesion and a School Governor. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in policing studies and a Bachelor degree in Commerce. He is a fellow of Institute of Leadership and Management and a member of Guild of Human Resources Professionals.
